Overlay doors, unlike inset doors, are larger than the cabinet opening and sit on the cabinet frame rather than inside the frame. The most common overlay is a half overlay, which means the doors are 1/2 inches larger on each side than the cabinet hole they cover. Doors on full overlay cabinets are normally 1-1/4” larger on all four sides than the cabinet opening.
The amount of cabinet frame revealed after doors are installed is referred to as reveal. Traditional cabinets have more exposed behind the doors, displaying more of the cabinet frame. Frameless or Euro-Style cabinets lack a face frame and are distinguished by their small reveal or gaps between doors, giving them a sleeker, more modern appearance.
The term "reveal" is also used to describe the space between two doors that cover a single cabinet opening, with the reveal referring to the point where the two doors meet in the middle.
A sleeker, more contemporary aesthetic can be achieved by increasing the overlay and decreasing the reveal.
You can limit the amount of show in your face framed kitchen by getting wider doors. The width of the frame surrounding your cabinet opening is the first measurement you'll need to take. The size of the door that can be hung on the cabinet is determined by the frame width. With a 1-1/2” standard frame width, you can utilize a 1-1/4” overlay on your doors for a 1/4” reveal. Add 1-1/4” to all four corners of your cabinet opening (not the current door). You should end up with a door that is 2-1/2" wider and 2-1/2" taller than the cabinet opening. The overlays on the door and the hinges must match. Standard overlays for hinges are 1/2”, 3/4”, and 1-1/4”, and it is critical that the hinge overlay and door overlay match.
Yes, they will have the same detail as the door. Drawer fronts smaller than 7’’ the rail will be reduced to 2’’. For more information refer to the shaker doors specifications within the product page.
The drilling depends on the hardware you are using on your drawers and due to many existing options, we do perform the drilling at installation.
Hinge boring refers to the 35 mm holes that are drilled into the back of a door to accommodate the cup of a concealed hinge. We bore hinge holes at a standard measurement of 80 mm On-Centre. This means that the hinge hole will be drilled 80 mm from the top of the door to the center of the top hinge hole and 80 mm from the bottom of the door to the center of the bottom hinge hole.
Panels are 3/4” thick, matching your doors. They screw on to the side of your cabinets from the inside to match the doors. When measuring the panels, match the height and the width of your cabinet. Little tip: an extra 7/8” of an inch helps to create framed or boxed look for your cabinets.
We sell toe kicks and fillers to your custom dimensions, for the toe kick we recommended standard lengths of 95” and a standard height of 5” and for the filler, match the heigh of your cabinet side and 6’’ of width for the best use. These can be cut to size and installed on top of your existing toe kicks or fillers, either using an adhesive or a pin nailer in an inconspicuous spot.
We do. The maximum height for a fridge panel is 95”. Fridge panels are 7/8” thick and you can select the appropriate width needed. For the Island the maximum width panel is 95” with an horizontal grain only and 7/8” thick.
